WATSU is an aquatic bodywork technique that uses water resistance and turbulence, stretching, Shiatsu meridian points, massage and the soothing effects of warm water to achieve relaxation and release for the client. During a session, the practitioner supports the client in his or her arms while guiding the recipient through the water in a continuous, flowing motion. The warm water and low gravity combine with the security of being held. This environment and the nature of WATSU are conducive to profound insights, understandings, and positive change. Muscle guarding is decreased allowing the client to enter a calm, quiet, deeply meditative state. WATSU is an ideal therapy for relieving stress, stiffness, pain, and immobility on physical and emotional levels. |
